Storage

The rapid advancement of technology can be shockingly fast, it is undeniably true.
Here is some example of my personal experience using storage:

1. In 2001, when there was a new release of Crayon Shin, I could purchase it in bookstore nearby, I'll missed some of the episodes if I had forgotten to buy it; now I can download the full set of Crayon Shin manga in one day using eMule; and I can watch a recently released movie online using PPS.

2. In 2003, the 64MB pendrive costs me around RM250; now I can buy a 16GB pendrive with RM119; while 2TB 3.5" hard disc costs around RM400.

3. In 2001, I am using floopy disc to transfer document files or dos games from one computer to another; In 2004, I'm using CD burner to burn all of my stargate series into CDs (appriximately 11 CDs for one season) as backup; In 2007, I'm using DVD burner to burn all my collections, dramas and ebooks into books of DVDs; and now I'm storing all of them in my 2.5" portable harddisc.

4. Practically...
- obsoleted: floopy disc, CD-R, SDRAM, DDR1
- currently, I still can use DVD-R for data backup but it is still not flexible; it is more convenient to carry a 4GB pendrive around. I'll only burn DVD-R if I need to pass some files to my friend, but it is impractical nowadays as the file size is getting larger. (eg: passing the PC game like Fallout 3 disc image to my friend which size is over 7GB)
- another concern is about the transfer rate, you won't possibly buy a USB1.1 harddisc. That is stupid because when you wanted to copy a 10GB file you'll take around two or three hours of time; while you need only 15 minutes to transfer using USB2.0. (I'm not sure about USB3.0 though)
- flexibility: 3.5" external harddisc requires an external power and hard to be carried around; while 32GB pendrive costs over RM500 (expensive |||); BD-R burner costs over RM1K+ and not flexible at all.
- Disc type storage will be obsolete soon because they are not flexible.

So in conclusion,
current trend: 2.5"/3.5" harddisc, Pendrive, SD card and SSD

Review: Sony DSC-TX5

Sony recently just released DSC-TX5 in Malaysia. There is no surprise to the geeks as its water proof functionality is not rare among the brands, especially Olympus, which is dominant in water proof feature (and also other virtually all proof functions - eg: shock proof, dust proof, weather proof.. etc). And yes, DSC-TX5 is first of its kind to provide this functionality.

Well, I'm one of the tester to try out the prototype camera.. (lol, taking camera into bathroom is crazy, and I'm not going to try the water proof feature anyway.) Sony is famous not because of its brand; it is because of its quality control and the features always making me satisfied. (same to my Sony MP3 whereby the battery saving function is extremely useful for a lazy guy like me, I can use up to a few months (average use only... ))

Let's see the Sony camera quality:

Summary (comparing with Olympus):
Noise Reduction: better
Blurring: better (depending on the modes selected)

The system is quite intelligent to help you optimise the scene you're taking (iCamera function), but the Program Auto function seemed to be a bit redundant.

Under the low light condition (second set of photo), the iCamera function is not really optimised well unless you're holding it 100%-ly without hand shake. But still the blurry and noise condition is better than other brands. Suggested to use Backlight Correction HDR mode under low light condition.

The Anti Motion Blur feature is not useful at all (blurry, noisy and slow), it combines 6 shots of photos and rendered into 1 nice photo (not really).

The Hand-held Twilight feature is also combines 6 synchronous shot of photo into 1 photo under low light and low ISO condition. The possibility of blurry is higher comparing with iCamera mode. The colour of this mode is slightly darker.

Speed: yes, superb comparing with olympus.

Lightweight: yes, it is better to buy TX1 (without water proof functionality) as it is extremely thin and comes in handy for any occasion..

6 Crimes of the Day: The truth is...

Introduction: All of these crimes happen before your eyes everyday, though you may not considered them as a serious matter or you're just merely ignore them because you can't do anything at all, you told yourself. Rather prevent than regret it next time.

Crime #1: Internet tells lies
You surf the internet everyday, but you won't know that there were fake results, untrue information which was created just for fun. And you just trusted them! Thus this creates the many UFO conspiracy of the day, probably wanted to generates income from the ads clicking. Internet won't serves as a accurate medium but somehow you need to organize a better logic thinking before you surf it.

Crime #2: Database privacy
You do register for social services like friendster or flixter everyday, and you also do register for online banking for every account you have. The bad thing is, you used the same password everytime you register. You might found out that maybe one day your hand phone gone missing and the nightmare is the next day your bank account balance has become 0.00 too!

Crime #3: Spamming & Bots: "Urgent mail" everyday..
Know how to get spam? You might surprised that your e-mail is full of spam and wonder, how they knew my email? Spam do not send mail to you without knowing your e-mail address. So next time prevent yourself from posting your e-mail directly on the forums, websites, blogs and so on. Remember to include [at] for @lias and [dot] for ".". Otherwise, just use an image for it.

Crime #4: Content duplicates: Where the hell is the true author?
Huh? You weren't blogging? You just merely copy and post the exact same content from the other source. And the reason is still the same: Ads clicking to generate revenue. So what the mess you've caused? Please, use a link to refer them. (*smiled* nobody listens..)

Crime #5: Website quality degradation: Rubbish websites
This is not a crime but rather a factor that lead to the degradation of web. See the lack of formatting design and arrangement of the web pages? They are just too lousy to be considered the 21 century web pages. And you discovered that most of the pages aren't created, they were generated by scripts. So the scripts committed the crime? or did the author of the script? Haha, rubbish websites. But there aren't any rubbish compactor anywhere.

Crime #6: Argh, the internet is just too slow
Just turn off the downloads ok? else just limit your download, the line isn't only yours.
